MEET Winston!

You will never meet a sweeter dog!
He was found as a  stray with a yellow rope around his neck.

He is currently in a foster home and this is what the foster had to say about him:
"We first spotted him on September 22, 2023. Our kind neighbors also saw him in November when he followed their dog home to play. He would disappear when any human came out to see him. They began feeding him and for a while they saw him sporadically. Then he starting coming everyday, but they still could not get close to him. Our kind neighbor worked hard with him until he would take a treat from his hand. This was a HUGE step ! Trusting people was hard for Winston. It took TWO months ! The next step was getting that rope off! Every time my neighbor touched the rope he would run away. Our Neighbors’ kindness and calm demeanor finally won him over and he could take the rope off and he got a collar on. Later a leash could be attached and they walked down to the lake each day.

Winston and his dog played all day long. He LOVES to play!
Our wonderful neighbors are 84 so another dog was out of the question. Summit’s was full and a kennel would have been a scary life for a sensitive dog like Winston. He came to be a friend to our dogs until he was ready to find another loving home.
It took two weeks before we tried to bring him in our house. He took to it like a duck to water. He has NEVER had an accident. He sleeps in his crate most nights but we don’t close the door although we could.
He doesn’t jump up on people or get on furniture.
He loves to play with Maggie our energetic 2 year old. He does very well walking alone or with another dog. He is the perfect balance of fun energy and calm sweetness.
Please consider welcoming Winston in to your home. You will gain a sweet loving soul with a heart of gold.

He would prefer a dog friend or two, But would probably be happy as an only dog if he had dogs to play with regularly. He sits for treats and mostly comes when you call him. A fenced yard is a preference. He is a gentleman and has not one aggressive bone in his body! He would make a great family pet. We have not had him around young children yet but we have had lots of big kids around and he handled the chaos with ease. He is a gentle, adaptable , loving guy!"
